This year before 2014 ends, Lee Min Ho will be releasing his latest movie entitled Gangnam Blues (Gangnam 1970) in South Korea which there’s no confirmation yet on international distribution. This will be his third movie Public Enemy Returns and Our School’s E.T. that both released in 2008. Lee Min Ho became close to Filipino viewers because of Korean TV series (Koreanovelas) that aired on ABS-CBN including Boys Over Flowers (a Korean version of Meteor Garden), City Hunter, The Heirs and soon the Faith. He also became brand endorser of the clothing apparel Bench. The song was Anak of the iconic folk singer Freddie Aguilar (Ka Freddie). The song was played between 00:06 to 00:25 in the total running time (TRT). The part of the song included in the teaser was: “Noong isilang ka sa mundong ito laking tuwa ng magulang mo at ang kamay nila ang iyong ilaw”. And even the opening part of the guitar truly gives a nostalgic feeling of the iconic song that was translated 26 languages but the movie chooses to use the original Filipino version.
This was the first ever Filipino song used in a movie where as in other films Filipinos can be either part of the singers like Lea Salonga, or lyricists and musician just like Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez.
The song Anak is currently under the licensed of Star Music an ABS-CBN recording arm. Other notable artists that have their version or rendition of the song include Asin, Regine Velasquez, Gary Valenciano, Sarah Geronimo, Side A, Noel Cabangon, Sharon Cuneta and Kuh Ledesma.
